Most people don’t know shit ’bout real nutrition and this includes me. Yes, I said me!
For years what I knew about proper nutrition consisted of what I saw in bodybuilding magazines.
I would try to eat like them, use the products they used, and even go to the gym and lift weights like they did.
It never occurred to me I was going to grow to be 6’7 and weigh 225lbs and would be a basketball player not a body builder.
When you’re young, you’re gullible and easily influenced and this is how most of us fall into becoming victims of insanity.
We do the same things over and over again and expect a different result because it worked for someone we’ve seen on TV or know personally.
If I can be real with you, most people build their bodies and eat based upon someone else’s standards.
I know because I did it for years until I became clear and did a complete 360!
We don’t know shit’ bout real nutrition
I’m a boxing fanatic and my favorite boxer is Floyd Mayweather. I like Floyd because he’s the smartest boxer fighting today.
Pretty Boy, as he is affectionately called, promotes his own matches and lets his uncle and father train him.
Now…Floyd’s uncle, is Roger Mayweather.
If you’ve seen HBO’S 24/7 which always leads up to the big fights, you’ve undoubtedly heard Roger say these words,“most people don’t know sh– ’bout boxing.”
Roger ain’t the most eloquent speaker you’ll hear but those words are never more true for boxing.
If it can be true for boxing, why can’t it be true for nutrition? Because honestly, most people don’t know shit ’bout real nutrition.
I believe most people’s styles of nutrition can easily be compared to 3 styles of fighters:
Sluggers – Sluggers enter the ring with no plan and want to engage in war with the objective of knocking you the fu– out!
Nutritional sluggers are akin to boxing sluggers as they have no eating plan.
They eat anything and everything paying little attention to the nutritional density of their food. You know them by this phrase,”I need to go on a diet”but they rarely ever do.
They just keep up their nutritional slugger mentality until a health crisis rears its ugly head then they thing about changing. This is if they get an opportunity to change.
On the fly – On the fly fighters enter the ring with a plan but soon abandon it if something happens unexpectedly.
For instance, they get hit by a lucky punch and instead of holding their opponent to regain their composure they start throwing wild punches because they are in panic mode.
This isn’t much different from an on the fly eater as they quickly abandon their nutritional plan if they attend a party or see a box of doughnuts at work.
An on the fly eater’s good nutrition exits quickly when faced with temptation.
[I use to be a big time on the fly eater and always wondered why I couldn’t get a flat stomach.]
Tacticians – Floyd Mayweather is a tactician; he’s the best I’ve seen in the ring. I’ve watched dozens of Floyd’s fights and he always does the same thing.
He doesn’t go for the knockout in the first round. He avoids getting hit by lucky punches and he always has a plan.
He never deviates from the plan and he adjusts the plan if he needs to based on how the fight is going.
Nutrition tacticians do the same.
They know what to eat and what not to eat. They also know when they attend social events cookies, cakes, and other treats will be thrown at them but they never deviate from there sound nutritional plan.
Can you see yourself in any of these scenarios?
It took me a long time to get my nutritional game right so I could move up to the level of tactician. If I can do it I know you can, it just takes a little bit of dedication and education.
I’ll provide the education for you if you continue to read my blogs. The dedication is totally up to you.
Real Nutrition For Adults
See..most people don’t know shit ’bout real nutrition. If you think I’m wrong, take a look around you.
We’re in the midst of a health crisis. If you’re over 30 chances are you may have a few extra pounds or a “lotta” extra pounds depending on what you’ve been eating.
I’ll share a secret with you, 99.9% of the population doesn’t know, your twenties define who you are at thirty and beyond. Confused? Let me put it another way.
What you’ve eaten in your twenties will finally start showing on your body when you become 30. It wasn’t until I became 30-ish that the many pizzas, wings, and soda I guzzled started to show on my once skinny body.
Metabolism can be a beotch but it doesn’t have to be if you know how to use it to your advantage.
You don’t know sh– bout nutrition. Yup, I said it. You can get mad or you can get smart.
The choice is yours. I’m willing to give you the information but its up to you to use it. So what do you want to do?
Get real mad or get real nutrition?
What’s your prediction on the fight this Saturday? Mayweather or Guerrero? Happy Cinco De Mayo for my Mexican friends!
Do you have a friend who doesn’t know sh– bout real nutrition? Do me a favor and share this with them! Thanks!
