I’m not sure why but people seem comfortable sharing their personal lives with me.
I’ll admit what they share can be a bit too personal however, I”ve gotten permission to tell you this. 🙂
Not long ago, a friend told me a crazy story about his elderly mom.
He recently put his mom in a nursing home.
She suffered from dementia and he struggled with caring for her.
It was one of the hardest things he ever did, yet he realized it was the best thing.
After several weeks in the nursing facility, he received a call from the staff.
It seems his mother was propositioning other male patients for sex.
She said she was “horny” and was frequently reminiscing on love affairs from her younger years.
 In order to calm down her sexual libido, he agreed to have the staff medicate her.
I’m not sure what they gave her but he told me it was effective.
His mother was no longer “horny”.
I had a huge chuckle from the whole thing but the chuckle turned into deep thought.
I wondered what could they have given her to curb her urges and could it have been done with diet and no drugs?
Masturbation and Diet Manipulation
We know graham crackers today as a cookie sweetened with either sugar or honey.
This isn’t how they started…here’s how it all began.
Sylvester Graham, a presbyterian minister originally introduced the graham cracker as a biscuit made from unbleached flour with bran and wheat germ added.
He believed white flour and spices raised sexual curiosity and contributed to masturbation.
Self abuse or masturbation as we now call it, was a sin and needed to be repressed.
It was his intent to have everyone on a vegetarian diet.
This diet would include bland starches to kill sexual urges.
Sylvester Graham’s diet seem to be a definite way to rid society of “self love”.
While it would cut down on self love, he was more concerned about eliminating the insanity and blindness which it supposedly caused.
Graham died at the young age of 57, kinda ironic isn’t it?
It seemed the Graham Diet would die along with him but it didn’t.
It would soon emerge again and kick the box cereal industry into high gear.
Corn Flake Foolery
John Harvey Kellogg and his brother Will worked for the Battle Creek Sanatorium.
That’s the crazy house if you didn’t know it!
John insisted the patients follow a bland diet similar to Graham’s to keep unwanted sexual urges in check.
 His diet consisted of feeding patients cooked wheat.
One day, Will left the wheat out by accident and it became stale.
He decided not to throw the wheat away, but to put it through the rollers anyway, as they normally did.
If they wheat weren’t stale, it would come out soft, but in this case it came out hard and in flake form.
John and Will noticed the flakes were an immediate hit with the patients.
While John wanted nothing to do with corporate america, Will decided to add sugar to the flakes and founded the Kellogg Corporation.
Corn flakes were born!
The cereal industry would have an immediate impact on america’s sex drive.

How Cereal Grains “chink” Zinc
In order to understand zinc, you “gotta” understand hormones.
Zinc is vitally important for testosterone production.
Testosterone in men is critical for building muscle and giving male characteristics along with a healthy libido.
Testosterone is also crucial in women as its needed in small amounts for sex drive.
[On a side note, birth control can kill testosterone production and is one of the biggest reasons women lose their drive when they take the “pill”].
Cereal grains can be harmful as they contain phytic acid.
Phytic Acid inhibits the absorption of minerals such as zinc, magnesium, and calcium.
 As you can see, Zinc is important in testosterone production but it also serves another process.
Zinc and minerals like it block aromatase.
Aromatase can be converted into estrogen in the body.
This a “no no” for both men and women as too much estrogen leads to ill health effects.
As we get older, hormones need to be optimized.
There can’t be too much or too little.
Cereal grains inhibit hormone production and ignite the cycle of testosterone converting to estrogen.
This can be detrimental to your health and wellness.
Honestly, the human body doesn’t cereal…it only think it needs it as a result of clever marketing and convenience.

If I can’t eat cereal now what?
I hate promoting food fear so I want to give you a solution.
Check out the recipe to make your own cereal from assorted nuts. Its yummy and nutrient dense!
- 1/2 cup raw cashews
- 1/2 raw almonds
- 1/2 raw brazil nuts
- 1/2 cup raw pecans
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon (more to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 tiny scoop of stevia
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional)
- Put nuts in a food processor, add cinnamon and salt- don’t grind them too much or they will become flour! Pour nuts into a large container, add raisins, coconut, and stevia. Stir to combine. Serve cold with your favorite nut or raw milk or heat for a hot “un” cereal.
- Variations: You can mix it up and use different nuts each time, use cranberries instead of raisins, add bananas, blueberries, maca, cacao or protein powder.
