Did you know you’re creating your own health every day, every hour, and every minute?
When I was younger, I would visit amusement parks and marvel at artists sitting in chairs drawing caricatures.
It was such a thrill to see them sit and draw a representation of how they saw someone. I’ve always wished I could draw, but I can’t unless you consider “stick figures” an artistic talent. Even though I have no artistic ability, I love watching others create masterpieces.
My amusement with drawing followed me into my adult years. One day while I was bored, I began “flipping” through TV channels, and discovered Bob Ross aka “The White Dude With The Afro” on PBS.
I was completely dumbfounded as I watched him put dots and “specs” on canvas. I was even more dumbfounded as the dots and “specs” took the shape of birds and lush landscapes right before my eyes! How could he do this with seemingly no effort? I’m still amazed to this day!
Everyone certainly can’t draw but we’re all artists.
How so?
Metaphorically, your mind is a brush and your body is the canvas, and with each thought you’re creating your own health.
If you’re creating your own health, how does disease happen?
Kids know the game and play it well
As children, we’re vibrant and ready for the world. Our dreams revolve around being astronauts, doctors or superheroes.
Kids honestly believe they can be, do, and have anything they desire. This belief is reflected in boundless energy and the ability to rebound quickly when life throws a sudden curve.
Ever see a child cry, when they’re sleepy?
What usually happens after a nap, is they wake up happier than a “bug in a rug”. If you asked them why they were crying, they couldn’t tell you.
Adolescents move with the stream of life through emotionally releasing and letting go. They forget what happened yesterday or the last hour, and in some cases the last minute. Kids care nothing about the world’s problems or others problems, their only concern is finding something fun to do.
You won’t see a group of toddlers sitting together meandering over past hurts and illnesses. Even if you encounter a sick child , they never seem to lose their since of optimism and hope. It is almost as if they know well being is right around the corner waiting for them to align with it.
Between childhood and adulthood, well being scurries off into the night, but makes an impromptu appearance if the timing is right.
Why does the caterpillar cease to become a butterfly?
Here We Go Adulting
What happens when we start “adulting?” ( Yes, I made up my own word). When “adulting” starts, things such as being fired from a job, a failed marriage or business can throw you into a tailspin. Life isn’t as “peachy” as it once was when we were kids.
Our dreams are crushed and life hurls us a reality check.
As we co-sign the reality “check,” we form beliefs about the world. There are two popular beliefs most adults hold when it comes to well being:
The body is suppose to break down as it gets older.
We are suppose to do something we don’t like to make money.
Whatever you believe always comes to fruition. For most, their beliefs are reinforced by what they observe. They see others around them or even before them who have gotten sick as they aged, so why should it be any different for them?
This sentiment can also be taken into our careers. Many of us have watched those before us do work they didn’t enjoy to make money. These beliefs not only take a toll on our mindset, but they also take a toll on our bodies.
As the days and years accumulate, we hold our breath in the anticipation of retirement. Retirement comes and instead of traveling abroad to far off places enjoying life, we’re traveling to the drug store to have prescriptions filled.
Picasso Has Nothing On You When Creating Your Own Health
We create our own health!
Yes, We do!
If you’ve ever had a cut, you know the cut heals over time. You don’t have to do much other than add some hydrogen peroxide and a band- aid. The body knows what to do and well being is there if we allow it.
How do we not allow it?
Complaining.
Criticism.
Condemnation.
Funny thing is, as much as this is directed towards others, a great deal is directed at ourselves. Criticism, complaining, and condemnation become patterns of thought and drip like a faucet.
Dis-ease starts with one simple drip.
As the drips become more, it starts filling the pool of “illness”. The “ease” of the body is replaced with dis-ease. The drips consist of not liking your job, your mate, or even yourself. The mind is powerful and our thoughts create through a pattern of negative emotion.
Constant negative emotion creates resistance within the body and health issues arise.
I’m Being My Well Being
Well being is your birthright!!
If you want better health, allow it! That’s all you need to do! Give up those things you do, which don’t allow it.
You are creating your own health with your thoughts and words. Tell the story of how you’d like your health to be and it will be delivered. Many people claim their illness and talk about it over and over again. What you focus ( give your attention to) creates your reality.
If you create your illness, always remember you can “uncreate” it!
Your mind is the brush and your body is the canvas. You are your own Bob Ross! Want good health? Talk about it and find good feeling thoughts. What do you love about your body? Focus on it!
When your thoughts change, your body and everything with it changes. And…it changes for the better. You are constantly creating your own health through your thoughts. Think your thoughts…don’t let your thoughts think you.
One Love!
