Geovanni Derice, motivational speaker stops by PhatMan Radio to help you get motivated for 2014.
Growing up as an Haitian American in his younger years, dealt with having an accent that made him stand out from his peers.
Although he realized he was different, he was always brought up to be apart from the expectations of everyone else.
It’s this unique upbringing that helped him excel in school, embrace his uniqueness and eventually become the 8th grade student body president at his school.
Sounds like a perfect story, until he entered high school where once again the pressure to be liked rose.
Peer pressure in high school is a tough thing for any kid, and Geo was no different.
With his attempts to fit in working against him, he grew depressed and even battled with a suicidal moment at the age of 15.
By the grace of God he realized that his path was to take the road less traveled, and because he did things differently, he experienced things that his peers never did.
Fast forward to today, he’s embraced the stage speaking to young people about the value of finding your own path.
His teachings on how greatness is fitting out from the crowd, not in the crowd has helped many young teens accept who they are, and not live an ordinary life, but one that’s extraordinary.
