What do you do when life throws you a curve?
A couple of years ago I put every penny I had into a business which eventually ended up failing.
In an effort to save “face”, I went back to the corporate world and got a job.
I was doing well at my job ( so I thought) and my three month anniversary was on the horizon.
One day, as the work day was about to end, I got a call at my extension telling me to come to the human resources office.
I got up and strolled to the HR office thinking the HR representative had a question about my recent insurance enrollment.
As I entered the office, my manager was standing there and the HR representative told me to close the door.
They proceeded to tell me they were letting me go. I was surprised, shocked, and shaken all at the same time.
I remember exiting the building and getting into my car.
It was the longest drive…ever!
The very next day I started my job search.
I followed up on every lead I had and completed what seemed like a million online applications only to never get a call back from anyone.
After a year of job hunting, I decided to give up and let go.
I took a much needed break to reassess my strengths, abilities, and what I really wanted out of life.
My break would last two years and it was the best thing that ever happened to me!
Today’s podcast is with Rachel O’ Meara author of the book,”Pause: Harnessing the Life-Changing Power of Giving Yourself a Break.”
What would a break do for your life?

Rachel’s book solidified everything I learned over a two year period.
