Inside The Episode
Most of us are in pursuit of something in our lives. It can be success, a mate, might even be a dream job. When we are in pursuit of something, it seems to be very elusive.
So why try to pursue happiness?
As I interviewed Joy, I kept having visions of the 2006 movie,”The Pursuit Of Happyness” starring Will Smith. The movie was a winding road of how life happens to us and how we respond to life happening to us.
The ending of the movie is a tear jerker and Chris Gardner ( portrayed by Will Smith) ends up not only pursing his happiness but eventually captures it.
For every Chris Gardner out there, there are at least a thousand others who are still pursuing their happiness only to have it elude them over and over again.
Joy’s book, “The Pursuit Of Happiness” should be required reading for all adults.
Hold up!
I take that back. It should be required reading for all high school kids venturing into adulthood.
Why would I say this?
Speaking from a personal perspective, I spent many of my young adult years chasing the new car, the next job , or next relationship thinking it would make me happy.
I would get those things and ultimately find out, I still wasn’t happy. It was only when I started to deliberately “think my thoughts” and pay attention to my emotions that I began to see my world change.
You might want to listen to this podcast a few times and relish in the simplicity of it. It is within the simplistic nature of it where you will discover the complexities of life.
